The Reebok Question Mid “Gridiron” is inspired by Allen Iverson’s well-documented love for the game of football.
At a young age, A.I. had no desire to play any sport other than football; to this day, he calls it his first love. “I thought basketball was soft,” A.I. remembers. That changed after his mom dragged him “screaming and kicking out the door” to basketball practice. When he got there, he saw his football teammates trying out and decided to give it a try. “I’ve loved basketball since then,” said A.I. He threw touchdowns in the fall and dunked in the winter. By the age of 13, he was playing basketball with guys twice his age. As a high school athlete, A.I. would set out on a quest to win state titles in both sports, which he did. He was in the national news and recruiters from colleges across the country were in the stands – the rest is history.
Key to that history was A.I.’s first signature basketball shoe introduced in ‘96, the iconic Question Mid, a transcendent design with a polarizing colored toe reminiscent of how he used to tape (or “spat”) his football cleats so that only the shoe’s toe could be seen.
Fast forward to today. While the Question Mid “Gridiron” removes the colored toe in favor of football-inspired hues and gridiron graphics, the Question silhouette itself will always represent A.I.’s love for the endzone. This Question Mid features a buttery navy suede on the toe and mudguard along with grey on the leather/nubuck upper.
