Reebok is reinvigorating a football footwear range that originally debuted over 30 years ago. The original product line, titled “Hammer”, featured a variety of cleated and indoor models, allowing one to wear Reebok’s Hammer on both the turf and the street. This week, Reebok officially announces Hammer Street, the 2024 lifestyle iteration of this historic range that brings some of the most recognizable details from the original shoes to today’s consumer.
Following the original Hammer debut in 1993, the silhouette evolved from a football performance essential to a beloved lifestyle footwear shoe. Despite the original intention of the shoe, it garnered a cult-like following which transformed the model into a street style piece. The new Hammer Street is an evolution of an off-the-pitch version of the Hammer and incorporates some of the most cherished design elements from the original footwear range. Key details of the shoe include a high-quality leather upper and suede toe, perforated tongue for breathability, the return of the only outsole that Reebok used in indoor soccer during the ‘90s and 2000’s and a unique spin on the T-toe shape that blends seamlessly into the Reebok crosscheck.
