The Nike Air Max 1 Grand Piano is considered a grail to a lot of sneakerheads. When it made it debut way back in 2009, this Air Max 1 was limited to just 400 pairs as it released exclusively at PHANTACi’s Taiwan store. Fifteen years later, Nike will once more be dropping the “Grand Piano” iteration of the Nike Air Max as a wider release, giving us another chance at copping this highly coveted release.
Arriving in an official color scheme listed as White/Black-Metallic Gold-Pink Rise, the sneaker is defined by its Black and Gold patent leather overlays that work alongside the White leather and mesh base. Standout details come by way of the two sets of “Piano” lace locks that come in both Black and Pink. Also worth noting, the 2009 pair come with PHANTACi-branded locks, whereas this 2024 version does not, which most likely means that this release will not be associated with the Taiwanese retailer. Finishing touches include the plush Pink velvet sock liner, the additional Gold hits on the top eyelets, Black laces, and the Nike branding on the insoles, tongue tags and heel tabs. Lastly, the sneaker gets with with a White midsole atop a speckled Pink outsole.
