Nike Cortez ’72

The Nike Cortez has a special place in sneaker history. It could be said that it’s Nike’s most recognizable running shoes ever made. With recognition like that, it’s only right that Nike brings back the OG version of the Cortez. I’m not talking about all the releases that we’ve seen this year, I’m talking about the real and true OG version of the Cortez, the Nike Cortez ’72.

The Nike Cortez ’72 is said to be the exact replica of the first Cortez ever created way back in 1972. Features such as the zig-zag edges, back pull-tab, rubber toe-cap, foam tongue, and minimal leather upper is what differentiates this from all the other Cortez that have come out this year. The original colorway came with a white leather upper offset by the the red hits seen on the Swoosh and the blue hits placed on the stripe on the midsole. The Nike Cortez is releasing September 24th at NikeLab retailers and online.
