The Sunburst logo was developed in 1972 while considering how to translate the asymmetry of a single Swoosh to apparel. The circular nature of the design allowed for club names to be arched over it — a regular conceit in collegiate and sportswear graphics of the era. The Nike Air Max Plus Sunburst comes covered in Habanero Red all throughout its mesh upper that has been overlayed with black speckling along with more black detailing on the signature plastic overlays. Additional details include a brighter shade of red all throughout the mudguard, a small jewel Swoosh on the side panels, a colorful pinwheel Nike logo on the lateral side panels and insoles, colorful eyelets, and a black rubber midsole/outsole.
