The Air Jordan 1 High Zoom “Crater” (Space Hippie) is an exclusive variation of the timeless model which derives its aesthetic from Nike’s “Space Hippie” collection inspired by life on Mars, and places an emphasis on sustainability. Donning Grey and Black textured uppers made from recycled materials to comprise its base, vibrant red stitching adorns the rear and tongues. Other details include “Zoom” branding found on the lateral tag and tongues with an exposed padded collar, followed by a White speckled midsole and multi-colored speckled outsole made from Nike Grind and “space junk” materials. Part of the Jordan Brand Crater Collection, the collection presents a radical expression of how to design with sustainability in mind. Embracing circular design principles, specifically in using leftover manufacturing waste, the shoes draw aesthetic energy from raw material authenticity. The collection’s namesake Crater Foam is a blend of Nike foams with about 12 percent Nike Grind rubber from manufacturing waste. Uppers are made from a canvas-like material, with reinforcements and webbings built from 80 to 100 percent mechanically-recycled polyester and 100 percent recycled nylon, respectively.
